My name is Catherine Mitchell, and I have been asked to give a step-by-step, kind-of cookie My name is Catherine Mitchell, and I have been asked to provide a step-by-step, cookie-cutter protocol for using this website. Know, everything written here is just pointers to the real teacher inside you and your children. To use this website, begin to explore what the core nature of movement is. Redefine movement as how your children develop, operate, think, and behave. Movement develops perception. This isn’t about starting a program or doing a lesson, it is about finding a new aperture to your children’s whole self, heart, mind, and soul.
Start by reading the Q & A in your section of the Audience page. This Audience page will have questions asked by people in your field. At first, pick just one question that most interests you. Recognize, in the woods of learning, the foundation is movement. Children learn and grow from their uniqueness to their experiences. WTM will help you discover and apply new insights and perspectives to development. (Below directions are given for each Audience.)

What is the WTM site?
The WTM site is a result of 40 years of study and research thanks to hundreds of people in schools, research, development, physics, and psychology. The intention is to help you, families, and schools build a new bridge between children’s hearts and minds. This “bridge” inspires creativity, integrity, and humankindness to the challenges children face. The site is also intended to help researchers and therapists understand and use motion from a body-to-the-brain perspective. The culture of the WTM methods is based on the Feldenkrais® method, the integration of physics, psychology, and development.
With adults directing the lessons, children learn to feel the subtle nature within their bodies, sensations, and motion connected to behavior and cognitive processing. Through a type of dual attention, children learn what their bodies know that their brains don’t. There are [tips, movement teachers], [lessons], and [scientific] to the methods.
Is there a cost?
No. Everyone is trying to sell you something. We are not. For information, tips, lessons, and guidance, the Q&A sections are provided. It’s free because we want to get this information out. We are trying to do our part in helping the next generation. We are a “.com” only to keep costs and logistics down, rather than having an “.edu.”
The book, A New SENSORY Self Awareness, is for sale, but it is not necessary to begin. There is lots of free information on the site. If you do, however, buy the book, thank you. It is you that helps us keep this site afloat. All proceeds go back to maintaining this site.

How do we begin – Feel
There is something in the human body that can teach what nothing else can: experience. Experience brings the heart and soul to realize there is more to the self, and body wisdom can help show the way. Experience gives sensations, physiological correlates, that make life’s lessons tangible. This “experience” is a kind of atmospheric quality to perception yet is largely elusive to most people, even the greatest athletes.
WTM movement is not about gaining strength, agility, or coordination in muscles and bones; it is about life. Life is matter in motion. It is literally where we come from, what shapes our lives, and ultimately the direction of our souls.
To understand how to feel this kind of movement in children, they must become aware of their greatest friend inside. This “friend” is what will be called the “Sensory Body.” The Sensory Body is what lies between one’s inner process to one’s outer experience. Understanding movement from this kind of body’s wisdom changes children’s mountains into molehills.
To Begin:
Read: your Audience page. Are you a Grandparents, Parent, School, Ed. Teacher, Scientists or Movement Teacher?
Next, do the Lessons suggested for your Audience.
Then help children apply what is learned from the lessons into daily life. It is there the learning really begins. The lessons will help you understand how learning comes from the body.
