When do I apply to do the Home breath?

The short answer is that it is essential to start enjoyably learn the Home Breath process so that kids don’t associate “Home” solely with difficult times. Instead of simply using breath to control or calm a situation, use it to help the children have a tool for the rest of their lives. Learning “Home” involves maintaining dual attention—both inward and outward —and is the jewel of the whole program.

Use every opportunity to teach children the value of the Home Breath. Only experiencing the changes will help them feel the value. Each time the children feel the effects, dual attention will become stronger.

First, get the kids curious about their invisible bubbles (see the game above). The will show how playing together can be more fun in Home. Then through out the week, use the feeling of Home for the children to check in with themselves. If they are nervous, upset, or have difficulty sharing feelings, help them become aware if they are in or out of Home.

Important: When children practice finding Home, they must touch their bodies where they feel the exhalations end. This helps them feel inside the physical body. Ask your children to stay in that place called Home. Them from Home ask them to share (or play).
